Story of
The Founder
Tuan Haji Mohammad Rashid with the support of his father, Haji Mohd. Fahmi Vatsaloo, who retired from SHELL in 1975, founded General Industries Services Cooperation or better known as GISSCO Sdn. Bhd. They first started their operations at 21, Jalan Setia Raja, Miri, Sarawak.
Tuan Haji Mohammad Rashid was born and raised in Miri, Sarawak. He is the first Bumiputera to found an oil & gas company in Malaysia focusing on slick line services since 1989. Being the third generation in a family that lives within the circle of the Oil & Gas industry, he sees the opportunity to go into slick line services after acquiring his first ever contract in the industry to supply food and offshore catering services which has the lowest requirement in technical expertise and support, in Miri and Kuala Terengganu. Back then, the clients were ESSO, Santa Fe, AG&P and Petronas Marine.
This opened the door of opportunity for GISSCO Sdn. Bhd. to attain the knowledge and the capacity to supply skilled manpower in the maintenance and specialized sectors of the oil & gas industry.
Tuan Haji Mohammad Rashid is known in the oil & gas world with 42 years of experience in many different sectors of the industry. He has worked in the field, onshore and offshore during his early days, and managed to partner with international O&G companies doing offshore maintenance, the marine industry, vessel drilling, many others and he believes that to be the best in this industry, one must have integrity, practice safety, achieve quality and honesty is the best policy at all levels.
He is always convinced that Malaysians have the capability and have enough field experience in this services. Hence, his last wish was to setup a training school for Oil & Gas in Malaysia.
