Haji Mohammad Rashid Bin Mohd Fahmi

1951 – 2022

Founder Story

Tuan Haji Mohammad Rashid, with strong support from his father, Haji Mohd Fahmi Vatsaloo, who retired from SHELL in 1975, founded General Industries Services Cooperation, now known as GISSCO Sdn. Bhd. The company began operations in Miri, Sarawak, marking the start of a visionary journey in the oil and gas industry.

Born and raised in Miri, Tuan Haji Mohammad Rashid made history as the first Bumiputera to establish an oil and gas company in Malaysia, specializing in slickline services since 1989. Coming from a family with deep ties to the oil and gas sector, he saw an opportunity to enter the industry after securing his first contract. Initially, GISSCO provided food supply and offshore catering services to companies like ESSO, Santa Fe, AG&P, and Petronas Marine in Miri and Kuala Terengganu. This success allowed GISSCO to expand, offering skilled manpower and specialized oil and gas services.
